NounSingular hotel Plural hotels hotel (plural hotels)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning or climate control. Additional common features found in hotel rooms are a telephone, an alarm clock, a television, and Internet connectivity; snack foods and drinks may be supplied in a mini-bar, and facilities for making hot drinks. Larger hotels may provide a number of additional guest facilities such as a restaurant, a swimming pool or childcare, and have conference and social function services. Some hotels offer meals as part of a room and board arrangement. In the United Kingdom, a hotel is required by law to serve food and drinks to all guests within certain stated hours; to avoid this requirement it is not uncommon to come across private hotels which are not subject to this requirement. In Japan, capsule hotels provide a minimized amount of room space and shared facilities. In Australia, Canada and Ireland, the word may also refer to a pub or bar and might not offer accommodation. In India, the word may also refer to a restaurant since the best restaurants were always situated next to a good hotel. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What is a nice hotel in Boston for the history buff? Q. My husband and I are planning a trip to Boston, but the hotel choices are getting overwhelming. We'd like a nice hotel; price isn't that important, but we're not looking for $500 a night either. The main reason we've chosen Boston for a vacation is we would love to explore the history of the city. Is there a good hotel sort of central to some of the more famous spots? A hotel like this with some juicy history of it's own would be a plus! We'd be thrilled with some advice from seasoned Boston tourists or residents! Liberty Hotel -- used to be a jail, just opened. Parker House -- home of the Saturday Club (Longfellow and Thoreau), invented Parker House rolls and Boston Cream Pie. On the Freedom Trail and right in the middle of everything. Langham Hotel -- great NC Wyeth murals, used to be the Federal Reserve Bank. Jurys Boston -- used to be Police Headquarters Some other historic hotels: Answered by PennyLeeD2 - Fri Jan 2 14:35:37 2009 Is it practicable to live in a hotel in Newark for 5 days sightseeing in NYC? Q. Soon I want to go to NYC with my parents, and we are looking for a hotel. As hotels (and parking) are so expensive in the city, someone told me we should find a hotel in Newark instead. Is that practicable if you are planning to do sightseeing every day? How long does the train ride into NYC take and do the trains go all day (so that we are flexible with the times)? Can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive hotel? Asked by usatraveller - Mon May 11 18:22:20 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you guys don`t care about your accommodations, and just want something clean and simple, why don`t you stay in a hostel right in manhattan? My friends and I always stay at The Big Apple Hostel right in Times Square (45th and Broadway). It's only $37/night per person, and you're right in the thick of things. It's clean, and functional with private rooms and 4 bathrooms to a floor. It also has a nice common area, and patio out back. You won't really be spending much time in the hostel anyways, and by staying here, you'll save so much on cabs, or so much time not having to take subways back into the city. I'm going there for the 6th time this weekend and can't wait! Trust me, you will love it! Q. We're staying at Tsim Sha Tsui and would like to have breakfast at the Disney Hollywood hotel before going to the park. How do we get there? Asked by Mrs. R - Fri Apr 24 20:28:03 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Just take the MTR (subway system in Hong Kong) to Disneyland Resort station. Two Options: 1.If you know the location of Kowloon Station, then go there and ride the Tung Chung Line trains to Tung Chung. 2. From Tsim Sha Tsui Station, take the Tsuen Wan Line train to Tsuen Wan. Alight at Lai King Station, and from there, take the Tung Chung Line train to Tung Chung. After doing either one of the two options I've posted, be sure to alight at Sunny Bay Station (it's the second-to-the-last station on the Tung Chung Line, just before the terminus). Then change trains again and ride the Disneyland Resort Line. It will take you to Disneyland right away. The two hotels (HK Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Hollywood Hotel) are near the park.
