A. A degree in Hotel Management from a reputed university and 10 years of experience with big hotel chain. Even MBA with good work experience can get this position. Many Chefs have also end up becoming GM.

Q. Generally speaking, what are the top global hotel brands? Something in the budget range of $250-$350 in a major city like Paris, New York, or Rome. Sheraton? Hilton? Marriott? The brand should have a global presence.

A. Economy- Fairfield Inn, Baymount Inn & Suites, Super 8 Mid-priced w/ limited food- Hampton Inn, LaQuinta. Mid w/ full food- Courtyard, Holiday Inn Select, Best Western, Holiday Inn. All Suite- Embassy Suites, Residence Inn, Doubletree Guest Suites. Upscale: Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton & Wyndham (tied), HI Crown Plaza, Doubletree.

A. I don't know about chains, but I have been in specific hotels with Bible-free rooms. There are more of them in Europe than in America, of course. I get bright black-and-yellow stickers from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (www.ffrf.org) that say "Danger! Literal Belief in This Book Can Endanger Your Life and Health" and when I find a bible in a hotel room I affix the sticker.
