The Savoy Hotel is a five-star hotel located on the Strand, in the City of Westminster in central London. Built by impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte, the hotel opened on 6 August 1889 and was the first in the Savoy group of hotels and restaurants owned by Carte's family for over a century. The hotel is now managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. It has been called "London's most famous hotel" and remains one of London's most prestigious and opulent hotels, with 263 rooms and panoramic views of the River Thames across Savoy Place and the Victoria Embankment, part of the Thames Embankment. The hotel has been closed since December 2007 for extensive renovations and is expected to reopen in 2010. The owners expect to spend more than £100 million on the renovations. It depends on where you need to go to Seoul and what you are looking to do, especially if you are a American (I am). I am not that familiar with the Savoy (I presume it is a boutique hotel?), but I have been to the Hamilton Hotel (I also pass it on the way from my apartment to the Army base or the train station every day). The Hamilton is right in the middle of the foreigner-friendly Itaewon area and is within walking distance of all of the clubs and bars of that area, including a 24 hour KFC around the corner and a 24 hour McDonalds about a 8 minute walk away, plus other restaurants in the hotel complex or within 1-3 minutes walk of the hotel (be careful of traffic crossing the street, especially taxis!).
