Which hotel location is more convenient for sight seeing in Amsterdam?
Q. I'm planning to visit Amsterdam, Netherlands next week. I would like to know whether the Marriot Hotel (located between Leidseplein and Vondelpark) or the Renaissance Hotel (located between Central Station and Dam Square) would be more convenient given the winter weather. Which hotel location is better for tourist to see the major attractions in the wintertime? Any other travel tips for exploring Amsterdam in December? Thank you.

A. The Renaissance by all means (I've been to Amsterdam, and I am a hotel manager of 8 years ). The location is beautiful and close to stuff thats historic, and entertainment - the redlight district, the hard rock, lots of tours n stuff.

What hotel would be good for 11 year old girls birthday party?
Q. My neice is having her 11th birthday, I am helping her plan it. She has 5 days to plan it. We need a hotel that is farely cheap and that has a pool and that is nice. We also need different games that 11 year old girls will like, if you could give us some tips on goodie bags that would be great. Her birthday is on the 19 if you could please help us by then that would be helpful. We live in Indiana, Indianapolis, so the hotel has to be around there. Thanks

A. The Marriot Hotel. That hotel gives you points which makes your price next time you stay in a hotel cheaper. They always have a pool indoor and outdoor (i believe) For the goody bags, maybe a pencil and a buncha candy! :D Hope I helped! :D Good Luck!

How does a hotel manager deal with a death in his hotel?
Q. Occasionally, a person will die of natural causes in their hotel room. How does the hotel manager handle the situation of removing the person's body without alarming other guests? Sorry about the category. Y/A does not have a good category for this question.
Asked by Shadow Man - Wed May 23 05:28:52 2007 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments

A. very discretly. i would first inform my employees so that they will not be alarmed and everyone is calm. then call the proper authorities to remove the body, without upsetting the guests. the main thing, i think, is to keep everyone and everything in order.

What could a hotel staff member do to impress you?
Q. I work at a hotel and I'm trying to think of creative ways to impress guests. If you were staying at a hotel, what would impress you or make you say WOW, i never would have expected that! Or just about anything that you'd wish a hotel would do for you to anticipate your arrival.
Asked by clwil862 - Sat May 2 20:16:41 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Simple, normal expected things would impress me... not the fresh flowers, fruit, wine , cheese and sweets you find in luxury places. A desk clerk that is neat, professionally dressed, and greets you with a smile and perhaps offers you a mini map of the city if you are a new visitor. I am impressed with a desk clerk who greets me by name. I am always impressed with a desk clerk who explains where my room is and even draws a rough map instead of giving me a key and letting me fend for myself. I am impressed by a desk clerk who takes the time to answer my questions whether they are about a nearby restaurant or something similar. Although I am able to carry my bags, it is always nice to have someone offer to do that if I need help. I am… [cont.]

What is the difference between an hotel and apartment hotel?
Q. Okay, so, I'm going to stay in an apartment Hotel.. And since it has the word 'hotel' in it, does it mean it's exactly like an hotel? Or something? Thanks if you answered. And, no, I'm not going to Greece, I'm going to Bangkok living in this Apartment Hotel called Citadines.
Asked by Waii - Mon Nov 23 10:22:46 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You`re going to Greece aren`t you...An Hotel is a big building with rooms and a restaurant where you have Breakfast, lunch and Dinner, and room service and a mini bar in the room and towels changed daily, etc and its expensive, or lets say, not cheap... An Apartmenthotel is a big building with rooms a reception area that doubles as a breakfast room for those on "half board", towels get changed every three or four days and you are "self catering" so its cheaper or lets say less expensive (though when you take in the food you have to buy, or eat out every night..it can be more expensive than staying in an hotel where it`s "all found")

Is there a hotel in Disney World that is acutally a decent WALK to Downtown Disney?
Q. Planning my 2009 Disney World vacation and would like some info on nearby Downtown Disney hotels that are actually walking distance to Downtown Disney. Not planning on renting a car since we'll be in the area for just a couple of nights. Did not want to spend an arm and a leg for this hotel since we will only be utilizing it for a good nights sleep...Any info will be appreciated! Have a great day.

Hotel renovation, work carried out on weekends? contractors invovled should be known to the public?
Q. When a hotel is closed for renovation, are they actually allowed to carry out the renovation work on saturdays and sundays? What are the days and time that they are actually allowed to carry out the work? When hotels are carrying out renovation / refurbishment, are they supposed to put up a sign board indicating the contractor, contact numbers, etc? If not, whom should we report to? If residence around the neighbourhood encounter some problems, e.g. fire alarm of the hotel ringing non-stop, who should the the residence contact?

A. In the US, they're almost certainly being paid bonuses to work weekends. Because the hotel wants the job done as fast as possible. Depending on the area they're in, they are probably banned from doing loud work like jackhammering in the night, but there's no reason at all that quieter work can't go on 24/7. Although usually the work is no more than 12 hours a day. When the job site is open, there will be some sort of office/trailer onsite with a person who works for the general contractor. If an alarm goes off at night though, you may have to wait until morning to have it dealt with... the police don't have the authority to go in there and smash things up just to shut them up. Since it's a renovation job though, the hotel fire alarms… [cont.]

What hotel has the cleanest jacuzzi tub at the best rate that is located inside you're room?
Q. I also want to know if the water is already in the tub are do you run it? This is the first time I've ever did this and I'm doing it for my birthday next month I just want a Jacuzzi In an hotel room lit with candles and slow jams playing and just relax. OH I'm in Dallas.
Asked by tiana2404 - Thu Aug 14 11:42:27 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Typically, the in-room "jetted tubs" (can't call them Jacuzzi tubs unless they are actually made by Jacuzzi Co.). are just oversized bathtubs with jets. They won't have the water already in them, as they're not like the hot tubs you find by pools at a lot of hotels (where the water is treated with chlorine, etc.). So -- there are some hotels in the Dallas area that have rooms with jetted tubs: Sterling Hotel Lockheart Gables B&B Radisson (Fort Worth/Fossil Creek) Best Western ne md resort B&B Scottish Inn & Suites (Haltom City) Be sure, before you book, that the room description says "jetted tub". Good luck, hope that helps!

What is the best hotel for your money to stay at in Disneyworld?
Q. We are planning a trip in June of 08. 2 adults, and 3 kids (11, 8, and 1.) We'd love to have a suite where we can have our own room. There are so many hotels to choose from. Should I spend the money on Disney or go cheaper somewhere else? Is it worth the money to stay at a Disney hotel? Thanks!
Asked by r_lescher12 - Fri Nov 9 15:43:15 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you want a suite, then you're going to pay the price at a Disney hotel. The cheaper Disney hotels are not suites and they are mostly double beds in one room. Since you have kids who are able to do things, have you considered staying at the Nickelodeon Hotel? It's an all suite hotel and the kids can have a blast in the pool area. They have all the slime and stuff your kids would like. The rooms can get pricy during certain times of the year, but June shouldn't be too bad. My family stays at one of two hotels in the Disney area. Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites. Both hotels are owned by Hilton and you can get some great prices on the rooms. Both have breakfast in the morning and a manager's reception in the early evening hours.… [cont.]

A. I have walked past it and even dined within awhile back. It is quite beautiful. It's right on the river near Market Street. I have played tourist in my city, but quite honestly, if I am going to spend that kind of money to stay at a hotel, I go out of town. So, since you are visiting...have a blast. It has wonderful reviews. Look at the Hotel Valencia as well. It is beautiful. One of my college students works there and tells me he has many return clients. ***New news: I went to Mexican Manhattan yesterday, a really nice outdoor patio restaurant upstairs across from the Holiday Inn. What is the best hotel to stay in before a cruise leaving Tampa?
Q. My family and I will be taking a cruise in January and we are flying in a couple of days early becasue we found a cheaper flight. Now we are looking for a hotel that is close to the airport and to the port in Tampa. If any hotel have free shuttle service from the airport and to the port? Also, we don't know if we should rent a car or could we just use the trolley to get around? Thanks for your help!

A. The "Doubletree Westshore" is a very nice hotel to stay at before or after your cruise. If you are bringing your personal vehicle, you can park free at the hotel. If you are flying in, they have a shuttle that will pick you up at the airport. The shuttle will also take you to the cruiseship terminal for a small extra fee.

Asked by Summerdays - Mon Nov 5 12:13:52 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are so many great options that it's hard to choose! I'm also not sure what your budget is -- at the high end, you might want to check out the Fusion Suites Number 40, the Black Tulip, Hotel Roemer, Banks Mansion, and the Seven Bridges hotel (these are all pretty pricey -- in the $200-$400 range!) For something a little more wallet-friendly but still very nice (under $200), you might want to look into the Chic & Basic, the Bridge Hotel, or the Hotel Zandbergen. For a real bargain (under $100 a night), the Hotel Brouwer is cute -- or look into the Prinsenhof, Hotel Weber, or the Owl Hotel. If you want a little more food for thought, check out IgoUgo.com's Amsterdam page; there are tons of reviews on hotels, restaurants,… [cont.]

A. First of all, I agree with those who have said that you should consider taking the train from Frankfurt and using public transport in Amsterdam, as both parking is a kill (and would probably cost you an arm and leg even if the hotel provides it); and riding a train is very comfortable, especially with children (toilets - on the train; you are free to talk about the sites you see on the way, to play with them - not with driving and finding the way on the map). However, if you do take a car, here are a few suggestions of hotels that provide parking: Hotel Zandbergen (three stars, small, family friendly) Chic & Basic Amsterdam As the name suggests, a basic two star no frills hotel, but with amenities and good reviews Hotel… [cont.]

Asked by Physics Master - Sat Mar 1 14:46:59 2008 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Hotels these days are going for looks condusive to the "normal" bedroom. So design is just whatever you like. Try alot of neutral colors, light & airy. Then you also want to remember that less is more. Maybe one or two wall sconces, a mirror, bedside tables and lamps, and a simple window treatment. I think hotels really want to convey tranquility and peaceful feelings so lots of blues or warm, earthy tones.

What is the most convenient hotel to Disneyland in Anaheim?
Q. BESIDES the Disneyland Hotel. Something good for kids, in walking distance of the main gate or a close shuttle that runs frequently. Want to make sure we have the most time possible at the park! Bonus points for a hotel close enough to see the fireworks at night-time.

A. The Carousel Inn and The Tropicana Inn are both right across the street from Disneyland, making them probably the closest in walking distance. I've never stayed in either, but my mom and sister stayed in the Tropicana, and they liked it (and my mom is somewhat picky about her hotels, so that says something). =] There's also the Candy Cane Inn, which I liked. It's in walking distance, but they also have a shuttle bus to Disneyland that runs about every 20 min (and it's one that parks fairly close to the main gate). All three hotels have a pool and a complimentary continental breakfast. You can probably see the fireworks from most hotels, as long as they're nearby. We could see them from our balcony at Candy Cane last time we stayed… [cont.]
